Septic tank and treatment plant services in Hamstreet
Hamstreet sits six miles south of Ashford, where the wooded Weald meets the open levels of Romney Marsh. The village has a station and a centre, but the farms and houses scattered around it, out towards Warehorne, Kenardington and Orlestone, mostly run their own drainage.

It is close to our base near Ashford, so a regular empty or a same day callout here is straightforward.
Working in Hamstreet
- Ham Street Woods, a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, lies right beside the village.
- Below the village the ground falls onto the Marsh, where the water table is high.
- The Royal Military Canal runs along the foot of the slope towards Warehorne.
Between Ham Street Woods and the Marsh
Ham Street Woods was one of the first National Nature Reserves in the country, designated in 1952, and it is part of Orlestone Forest, a remnant of the oak woodland that once covered the Weald. It is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. To the south, the ground drops away to the Royal Military Canal and the open Marsh beyond it.
That puts protected ground close to many properties here. Under the General Binding Rules, a new discharge to ground cannot rely on the rules within 50 metres of a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and a new discharge to water cannot rely on them within 500 metres. A new discharge to ground cannot rely on them inside ancient woodland at all, and Ham Street Woods is ancient woodland. Anyone replacing a system near the woods needs to check the distances before choosing what goes in, and we look at that first.
On the Marsh side, high winter groundwater is the usual reason an older tank fills too fast, and the dykes rule out a drainage field on many plots. Treatment plant service and repair in New Romney explains how plants and the Marsh dykes work together.
