Septic tank and cesspool services in Woodchurch
Woodchurch is a large village a few miles south west of Ashford, with a broad green at its heart and a restored smock windmill on the higher ground to the north. Outside the village centre the parish is spread across farms and lanes, and most of those properties run their own cesspool, septic tank or treatment plant.

It sits between our base near Ashford and Tenterden, so it is straightforward ground for us to reach for a regular empty or a callout.
Working in Woodchurch
- Weald clay across much of the parish, which works a drainage field hard.
- Shirley Moor, to the south west, is flat low lying ground where the water table rises in winter.
- Long drives and farm tracks are common, so tell us about the access when you book.
From the windmill to Shirley Moor
Woodchurch windmill stands on the high ground to the north of the village, looking south over the levels towards Romney Marsh. To the south west the land drops onto Shirley Moor, a stretch of flat, drained ground that runs towards Tenterden and Appledore and was once known as the Upper Levels. The difference between the two matters for drainage.
On the higher ground the Weald clay drains slowly, so a septic tank's drainage field has little spare capacity and depends on the tank being emptied before sludge reaches it. Out on the levels the water table rises close to the surface through the winter, which can put a field out of action and push groundwater into an older tank. How weather affects cesspools and septic tanks explains both.
Where a field will not work, the choice is usually a treatment plant discharging to a ditch that flows all year, or a sealed cesspool. Do I need a sewage treatment plant walks through the decision, and our new tank installations cover the work.
